Emotions are the tides of the inner world: shifting patterns of information, rising and falling through the body’s waters.

Connecting with and experiencing our emotions is an essential part of the releasing and invention spirals of healing. Emotions are energy in motion. They provide us with information about our felt sense of the past, present and the future. They create chemical reactions within our physical body and respond to the patterns and beliefs we create with our minds. 


Our emotions provide us with valuable information. Often it can be challenging to discern past emotional patterns from how we actually feel about what is happening in the present. Emotions often reveal the hidden language of our patterns from the past. Protective responses, inherited memories, and familiar survival strategies that once kept us safe.  By bringing our emotions into our conscious awareness and applying the principles of contemplation, compassion and curiosity, we begin to discern old unconscious emotional responses from feelings that guide us and are relevant and helpful in the present. 


 We approach working with our emotions from both spirals of healing. Releasing old emotional patterns such as supressed anger, buried sadness and fear and allowing old emotional cycles to complete, whilst learning to listen and respond to the information from emotions we are experiencing in the present.


Our emotions can teach us to experience a situation as it is in the here and now. When we do this our survival responses become proportionate and appropriate, we feel when we need to hold boundaries, let go of something that has been lost and develop something new. We begin to experience other emotions that may not have been available before, peace, stillness, ecstasy, bliss and joy. 


Connecting with our emotions creates space for new patterns to emerge patterns rooted not in fear or contraction, but in clarity, coherence, and the intelligence of our deeper knowing. In this way, emotions become both the guide and the gateway—illuminating what is ready to be released and helping us shape new ways of being that are more aligned with who we are becoming.
